Reviews about Britelly

Being a Wellasian Ex-Pat and massive Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan of all media, I was delighted to find on my recent return Home, an independantly run, well stocked and surprisingly economically well priced establishment which had, at its helm, a man of whom this reveiwer can only describe as the living incarnation of T.V's "Mr Benn" (No not Bean, definatly NOT Bean.) On entering I was given a warm welcome but no hard sell. I was amazed at the DVD selections on offer, titles were available that would have raise a puzzled eyebrow when asked for in "specialist" shops such as Forgotten Moon or HMmmmmmV . (names changed so I do not get my bottom sued!) Best of all is that the propriator actually knew what i was talking about whenever I had a question about a vaguely remembered T.V.show from my long distant youth, displaying an extensive knowledge on the subject in question with what can only be described by this reveiwer as an uncanny mental library of information worthy of an investigation by Fox Mulder himself! This one visit concluded a personal quest that I have been on for around 20 years......... And it went something like this: Reviewer. "I don't suppose you know of a tv series around the 60's with a kid looking out of a bedroom window at night and large rocks or stones that are closing in, getting nearer and......" Propriator (politly interceeding.)" Yes, it was called "Escape into Night", made into a film called "Paperhouse," down there, third shelf, half way along....." I was and still am "gobsmacked," 20 years I have been asking people, asking at the aforementioned specialist shops, researching on and off in tv and movie mags and books and with the the dawn of the Internet "gongling" allsorts of keywords yet nothing, bugger all! And then one visit, one conversation- sorted! But also I was directed by the propriator to "U-Teee-ooobe" (see above) to check out clips to make sure this was indeed the series I remembered, and still again- no hard sell. If you have got this far with this somewhat lengthy reveiw, I thank you, but I had to share this wonderfull experience, and I ask you please go to this shop, show your support for the Independant stockist who not only has NOT forgotton the personal approach, but truly has a passion for what you, the customer wants, be you aged two or a hundred and two. Sir, with this in mind I salute you. Reveiw by Martin Hoskins. (Marcus Gabriel) (Who will be returning soon to buy "Escape into Night.")
